Through my work as a naturopath I have helped many clients to balance hormones, achieve conception, lose weight, treat chronic illnesses and to manage a wide range of other health concerns. Through this work I started noticing more and more that people are eating what they think is the perfect diet (e.g. lots of whole grains, legumes, lots of fruit, ‘diet’ food products and avoiding fat), yet they have numerous niggling health issues, which are presenting in younger and younger people. I am consistently seeing 20 year olds who feel ‘fat, frazzled and forty’, and don’t even get me started on how the 40 year olds are feeling.
If this so called healthy modern diet is as wonderful as we are told then why are we feeling the way we are? So it got me thinking…and here it is, all laid out in this blog.
It’s my journey too… My personal goal is to make the subtle changes within our lives to create a harmonious way to live. I want my family to eat the clean, real foods that my grandmother and great grandmother ate. I don’t want my children growing up without the taste and knowledge for what food should really be – NO, chicken doesn’t only come as nuggets and fruit is not something sucked out of a pouch.
I am also on a journey of un-schooling myself of the modern nutritional dogma that was fed to me in college and other outlets. I am discovering the real truth behind nutrition and it’s true effect on the body.
This blog is a fusion of my passion for creating a simple life that doesn’t leave me feeling deprived or missing out on many of the wonderful things that 21st century living brings.
